To Lead, Create a Shared Vision

Before you can create a shared vision you just establish trust.

Now you state, “I am truth worthy. Yet, how do I establish trust with my team and share my vision that could be handed off to competitors or even competing vendors?” Your team wants to understand where you started, how you arrived at this vision; they want to share your the journey.

Understanding what you want or should share with your team is always a delicate line. If you don’t draw in others in your vision you’ll be pushing an empty shopping cart with a sign in it called ‘vision.’ It will be a lonely ride. So where do you start? Picture your vision and the future. This is what you’d ideally like to see realized. Not all of this vision and image can be shared. I understand that. However, you can share pieces of that journey all the way through the end. Not every piece of the puzzle has to be communicated, as frankly not everyone will see, what you see. But others must be able to share in your vision, if it’s going to have a chance of being real.

Think about what you can share and less about what you can’t. Focus and expand on the pieces being shared and how they lay into that future realization.
